How do you compare filter bag life and annual cost?
Enter your bag/cage unit cost, count and expected (or observed) life; the tool calculates the annual and monthly amortized cost. You can compare two options (e.g. current bag and HanStarBag) side by side — a cheaper bag doesn't always mean a lower annual cost.
Formulas and method
Total cost: C_total = N x C_unit [USD], N units, C_unit USD/unit
Annual cost: C_annual = C_total / (Life_months / 12) [USD/year]
Monthly cost: C_monthly = C_annual / 12 [USD/month]
- This calculation only amortizes bag+cage material cost; labor, downtime, energy and maintenance costs are not included.
- A low unit-price bag can lead to a higher annual cost due to a short life — the real comparison criterion is annual/monthly cost, not unit price.
- All cost and life inputs are supplied by the user; this tool does not assume Hantech's own pricing.
