Material dampers under silos and hoppers may share the same name as air/process gas dampers, but they serve different functions. The product type isn't fixed until cross-section, fluid, pressure, temperature, wear, and actuator requirements have been clarified.

Information to be clarified before quotation

  • Type and temperature of the conveyed material or gas
  • Flange/cross-section size and connection orientation
  • Full shut-off, throttling, dosing, or diverting function
  • Manual, pneumatic, or motorized operation requirement
  • Pressure differential, cycle frequency, wear, and automation signal

Flow task

The need for full shut-off, throttling, dosing, or diverting determines the damper geometry.

Activation

Manual lever, pneumatic cylinder, or motorized actuator; selected based on cycle count and automation signal.

Tightness

Blade, bearing, and seal details are checked for dust leakage, gas bypass, and material jamming.

Weathering

For cement, clinker, and mineral lines, housing/blade material and replaceable wear parts are evaluated.

Material and line geometry

Bulk density, particle size, moisture, abrasiveness, line length, and elevation difference determine the equipment type.

Drive, safety, and maintenance
